Reeperbahn Festival

We R iconic. The redesign of Europe's biggest club festival.

Context

As Europe's largest club festival, the Reeperbahn Festival offers a stage for a wide range of newcomers and established artists. The up to 600 concerts take place over five days at very different venues - from clubs and bars to churches or the Elbphilharmonie. The program is supplemented by a conference for the music and creative industries as well as talks and events from the worlds of art, film, and literature.

Approach

For the Festival of Festivals, we developed a new corporate design as well as a new website and app. Also integrated was the complete campaign for the festival in the fall of 2019, which included citylight posters and ads as well as all digital channels. The striking key visual is the iconic logo “R”, which - dynamically animated - not only works on the web and social media but also provides numerous motifs for static applications.

Approach

The logo was optimized for digital touchpoints and small formats. The reduced typeface conveys clarity without losing recognizability.

With a changing color code, the Reeperbahn Festival stages itself every year to match the zeitgeist.

Bold and structured: The design system gives the festival and its artists enough space to showcase themselves.

Instagram and Facebook are the most important communication channels 365 days a year. For a consistent feed, we designed a set of templates.
